For our May event, we’ll be exploring what it means to style your dance.
Fusion explores the movements and shapes many partner dances have in common. But what sets these movements and shapes apart from one dance to the next? It’s how each dance styles these movements. An outside turn is an outside turn… and yet an outside turn in Blues looks very different from an outside turn in Zouk because of the different styling each dance has. Come join Sydney Schiff for our 8 pm lesson as she explores how you can adapt different stylings from different dances to make your own dancing more expressive and unique.

What is fusion?
Fusion is a genre of contemporary American partner dance that focuses on combining different dance and music styles together into a seamless whole. This can be as simple as doing a style of dance to a non-traditional music genre, but most often involves using steps and techniques from multiple dance styles in one dance. The cornerstones of fusion are musicality, connection, and creativity, encouraging dancers to be inspired by both the music and their partners.
